Research and Equipment Grants

Since 1973, the Burn Institute has donated nearly one-million dollars to fund vital burn research and to purchase specialized equipment to treat burn patients. Funding also has been provided for patient census reports, which the Institute uses to create burn prevention strategies for the community.

For: Encirclage of tendon repair with biosynthetic material – a biomechanical barrier – to reduce the post operative adhesions.

To: Plastic Surgery Research Foundation c/o UCSD Division of Plastic Surgery
For: Research project - HSV Infections in Burn Patients, Incidence, Risk Factors, Diagnosis and Treatment.

January 2000
To: University of California San Diego Medical Center
For: As part of this research project, Drs. Adelheid Junger and Linda Sorkin will investigate the nature of pain induced by direct tissue injury resulting from a burn injury.
