Throughout the year, the Burn Institute is fortunate and grateful to be the beneficiary of funds raised at many different special events.
Whether you are a golfer, wine connoisseur or enjoy an outing with the family, chances are there is a Burn Institute event that will peak your interest.
Share Your Heart Mardi Gras Party
Presented by the Burn Institute Auxiliary the Share Your Heart Mardi Gras Party of the year will be held at the House of Blues! Complete with a special VIP Reception in the newly expanded and renovated Delta Room, live entertainment for all, including fortune tellers and tarot card readings, it will be the affair extraordinaire. This annual event will feature upscale silent and live auctions. Cocktail attire is recommended.
Fire Ball
Fire Ball is held in the Imperial Valley and all the funds raised directly benefit the Burn Institute's important work in the area. More than 400 people support this event, which includes dozens of local business sponsors. Fire Ball has become one of the most popular social gatherings in the valley. The evening consists of a dinner, dance, unique silent auction and casino fun. The festivities also include a "Tribute to the Fire Service."
"Give Burns The Boot"
This countywide firefighter boot drive is sponsored by the San Diego - Imperial County Fire Fighters Advisory Council to the Burn Institute. Firefighters collect donations in their boots during the morning and evening commutes. This is the Burn Institute's largest one-day fundraiser of the year.
Firefighter Night at The Padres
The Padres pay tribute to the fire service with pre-game ceremonies - this includes hundreds of firefighters lining the first and third base paths while a firefighter sings the national anthem. A special fire service tribute video is shown on the Jumbotron and a young burn survivor throws out the first pitch. The Burn Institute sells a select number of Padre tickets and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Burn Institute.
Spirit of Courage Awards Banquet
This semi-formal banquet pays tribute to local heroes who have risked their lives in an effort to save another from burn injury or death by fire. More than 500 fire service personnel, law enforcement officers and community leaders attend this special evening. Sponsorships are always available and hero nominations are accepted throughout the year.
Bomberos Golf Tournament
The Bomberos de San Diego annually sponsors a golf tournament with a portion of the proceeds given to the Burn Institute. The tournament ends with a clubhouse dinner, awards presentation and a chance to win some fabulous prizes.
Burn Run/FIRE EXPO
Hailed as Southern California's Largest Firefighting Event, this day-long expo includes the arrival of the Burn Run parade of more than 100 pieces of fire apparatus, fire engine rides for the kids, live firefighting demonstrations, a kiddie karnival, community pavilion, emergency service vendor booths, food, live music and more. Admission is always FREE and more than 15,000 people attend this event each year at Qualcomm Stadium.
San Diego County Fire Chiefs' Association Annual Golf Tournament
This upscale golf tournament is heavily attended by local fire service personnel and local business leaders. Held each year at an exclusive golf club, this tournament also includes a sit-down dinner, silent auction and awards presentation.
Fire on The Fairways
A golf tournament held by firefighters for firefighters. This fun and wacky tournament, which spoofs the Master's Tournament, is a day to remember. The event includes golfing, lunch, dinner, a silent auction and lots of great prizes. If you're lucky you may even win first place and get to wear home the coveted Green Fire Jacket.
Poker Tournament
If you're feeling lucky or just love competition, then this Texas Hold Em' Tournament is your deck of cards. Sponsored by the San Diego - Imperial Valley Fire Fighters Advisory Council to the Burn Institute, this tournament pays some hefty cash prizes.
