Description of Organization

The Burn Institute is a nonprofit health agency dedicated to reducing the number of burn injuries and deaths in San Diego and Imperial counties. Founded in 1972, one of the Institute’s first accomplishments was to help establish the UCSD Regional Burn Center. Today, the Burn Institute continues to: reach thousands of children and adults with lifesaving fire and burn prevention education; fund vital burn research and treatment; and conduct burn survivor support programs that help children and adults cope with the devastating psychological effects of their injuries.

Job Description

Intern will assist the communications director with all aspects of department duties. Student will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience in the following areas: Media relations, writing, editing, research, special events, program development and basic public relations duties to include data input, creating press packets, organizing clip reports, media mailings, etc.

Required Skills

Excellent oral, written, computer, typing and organizational skills.
Must be majoring in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing.
